Education Digest

Hello everyone,

The last quarter has been very busy, fruitful and fulfilling.

We cheered University of York, The University of Aberdeen, University of Bristol and University of Liverpool as they got their licenses to open and operate International Branch Campuses in India. The first three will be in Mumbai and the fourth one in Bangalore. Queen's University Belfast, and Coventry University will open in GIFT Ahmedabad.

We also joined the Honourable Union Education Minister, the Chief Minister of Haryana and the Senior Leadership of the University of Southampton in celebrations, as they launched the very first ever International Branch Campus in India under the University Grants Commission (UGC) regulations.

The India-UK Vision 2035 was adopted by the Prime Ministers of India and the UK. Education rightfully took its place as one of the flagship pillars. This sets the strategic direction and ambition in the education partnership and will catalyse many more innovative and meaningful engagements between our countries.

This quarter culminated at the National Education Policy 2020 five year anniversary event in Delhi. Acting High Commissioner, Christina Scott CMG and Country Director British Council, Alison Barrett MBE attended the Akhil Bharatiya Siksha Samagam 2025 to witness Bristol University receive its Letter of Intent from the UGC becoming, at 51, the highest ranked university to do so.

We are impressed with the pace of change and thankful for the warm and proactive support that these pioneering UK universities have received from the UGC and the Ministry of Education on their journey.

We would love to welcome you to our Delhi office as our Study UK Creative Connections exhibition by UK alumni is on until mid- August 2025.

In this newsletter, read about our successful professional development opportunity in Scotland for school counsellors and a heart-warming UKIERI story – let us know if any of these resonated with you and you would like to know more.

Finally, I want to draw your attention to the Going Global Partnerships grant call which is now open for applications – the link is below.

Until the next edition, stay inspired to provide the best education possible to all.
