This October, explore stories that inspire! Celebrate Black voices through powerful books and films, and join us in marking World Mental Health Day (10 Oct) and World Food Day (16 Oct) with curated reads, a digital challenge, and live events.

Highlight events

Break the Silence: A Mental Health Art & Film Festival

Join us for a two-day festival celebrating creative expression and movement in healing through art, film, storytelling, and dialogue which reflects on resilience, well-being, and collective healing

When: 10 October and 11 October, 10.30 a.m to 5.30 p.m.
Who can join: Open to all aged 18 and above.
Where: British Council Library in Chennai

Film screening and panel discussion

Join us for a special screening of Every Now and Then Girls — a powerful tapestry of women's friendships, their struggles against patriarchal structures, and their imagining of new futures, told through the richness of folktale traditions, non-linear storytelling, and the magic of realism.

 

When: 11 October, 6.00 p.m onwards

Book Launch: Murder in Moonlit Square

Meet author Paul Waters at the launch of Murder in Moonlit Square, a witty mystery set in Chandni Chowk, Delhi, where a streetwise Irish nun and a local hotelier unravel murder and mayhem.

When: 17 October 2025, 06.00 p.m onwards
Who can join: Open to all aged 18 and above.
Where: British Council New Delhi

World Food Day Conversation

Join celebrated chefs Asma Khan and Shaun Kenworthy for an inspiring session exploring the intersection of food, culture, and sustainability. Discover global culinary insights, innovative approaches to cooking, and the stories behind the dishes that bring communities together.

Global Bites: World Food Day Challenge

This World Food Day, the British Council Libraries invite you to take part in Global bites: a culinary journey, a digital video challenge that celebrates the diversity of cuisines and the rich stories behind them. Last day for submission is 8 October.

Reading Challenge 2025
