Hello everyone
The British Council brings you best wishes for the New Year and the Republic Day as you enjoy the return of sunshine and make exciting plans for the coming year. Our plans are aligned on delivering the historic India- UK Vision 2035 and we are delighted that the new International Education Strategy by the UK government released last week focuses on partnerships, research, TNE and sustainable, mutually beneficial mobility. The essence of the strategy is captured in the executive summary, as it recognises that "Education is one of the UK's most important global assets, connecting people, driving shared prosperity, and shaping a more peaceful, innovative, and inclusive future."
There are lots of international education events in India in February – do come and say hello if you catch us at the QS event in Goa where we are convening panels and workshops on Creative Economy, with our global Arts Director Ruth Mackenzie. The PIE Live India 2026 will see us join the market briefing, rise of South India as a global education hub and Alison Barrett MBE, Country Director British Council will join the panel on Education Policy.
This edition also brings you news of the HSBC Climate Skills Workshop at TERI and Agents and Counsellors' Symposium that explored what meaningful support for students looks like in this new age and rapidly evolving context as they decide their educational choices.
Our most sought-after scholarships, GREAT scholarships and Women in STEM scholarships are live now, find out more about them below.
I look forward to seeing many of you in the upcoming events across India, please do get in touch if you have any questions or suggestions for us.
Rittika Chanda Parruck MBE
Director Education- India, British Council
